Some of these include the majestic Picos de Europa National Park, the gastronomically blessed Castile and León region and its intellectual capital – Salamanca, Extremadura region, visit the Roman city of Mérida and the Andalusian Moorish town of Antequera. You also can see and explore the breathtaking Sierras de Cazorla National Park and the stunning city of Toledo, which has an Arab, Jewish, and Christian heritage.

Day by day tour itinerary
Your self-guided motorcycle tour to Spain starts with taking the ferry from the South coast of England to Santander.
After boarding and settling in our comfortable cabins, you will have an opportunity to relax, meet other travelles, have a drink or two, and have dinner in one of many onboard restaurants.
The first port of call on your self-guided motorcycle tour to Spain is the Picos de Europa Region. While popular with bikers, the Picos de Europa National Park still feels like a bit of a “hidden gem”.
This rugged and diverse mountain range is perfectly nestled in the middle of the scenic north coast of Spain and is only a short but enjoyable ride from the Bay of Biscay, making it an ideal location for your first overnight stop.
Your second destination on this fantastic self-guided motorcycle tour to Spain is the Castile and León Region. The region offers a wide assortment of breathtaking natural landscapes, spectacular monuments, an abundance of traditional gastronomy, and a variety of great biking roads.
Salamanca—”Ciudad Dorada” or “La Dorada,” which, when translated in our money, means “the Golden City” or “the Golden One”—is also the region’s capital. With a history dating back to the Celtic era, this intellectual city of rare beauty is a blend of Moorish influence and Hispanic culture awash with Renaissance-style architecture. Time and weather permitting, the city centre is a perfect place to spend a few hours strolling along its cobbled streets and squares.
On the third riding day of your self-guided motorcycle tour to Spain, you’ll travel via the spectacular Las Batuecas-Sierra de Francia National Park.
And you’ll ride a combination of scenic highways and byways, picturesque country roads, enjoyable mountain biking routes, and, if it can be helped, only a few shortish motorway sections.
The theme of the fifth day of your self-guided motorcycle tour to Spain is more or less the same as the previous days—plenty more beautiful scenery, nearly traffic-free country roads and some also nearly traffic-free motorways. Your journey will take you through many rustic hamlets, traditional villages, provincial market towns, and many regions of outstanding beauty.
Time and weather permitting, an optional visit to Cordoba, the City of Flowers, is one of the day’s highlights. Córdoba is a World Heritage site renowned globally for its Great Mosque, Medina Azahara, Roman Bridge and Bridge Gate. Its historic old town is a warren of cobbled narrow streets, flowery courtyards, hidden squares, and lively traditional taverns where you can relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and sample the delicious local cuisine.
Today is your first free day of the self-guided motorcycle tour to Spain. You can organise your agenda, park your bike and relax, explore the town, or join a proposed ride. Our suggested circular ride will take you to Ronda, a historic town often referred to as the “City of Dreams”, or in local money – Ciudad Soñada.
Due to its spectacular Puente Nueve (New Bridge) that traverses hundreds of feet deep gorge connecting two parts of the charming Old Town, Ronda is considered one of Spain’s most visited and beautiful cities.
Today, your self-guided motorcycle tour to Spain continues. You’ll be heading from one beautiful mountain range to another. Leaving the beautiful Andalusia Region behind, you’ll ride a combination of motorways, scenic mountain roads and rural country routes towards your next destination in the Sierras de Carzola.
Most of it is an enjoyable and relaxing ride off the beaten track, starting with the passing by and then crossing the Iznajar Reservoir and riding via Sierras Subbéticas Nature Park, so you’ll take your time and enjoy it.
On the second day off of the self-guided motorcycle tour to Spain, you can spend your free day organising your own agenda. Or you can follow our suggested itinerary. This circular ride includes some of the area’s best and most beautiful mountain country lanes and mountain roads. You’ll pass through numerous hidden hamlets and rustic villages surrounded by rugged mountains and rolling hills with terrace upon terrace of perfectly manicured olive growths and orchards as far as an eye can see.
If you prefer to park your bike and explore the town, there is plenty to see and do. Or if you choose a lazy option and spend a day sitting by the pool, well, just do it. It’s jour holiday 🙂
Today, your self-guided motorcycle tour to Spain continues towards your next destination – Castilla–La Mancha Region and the city of Toledo.
You’ll ride some motorways, but try to meander as much as possible along the picturesque country roads, traffic-free highways, and long-way-around (occasionally wrong-way-around) byways.
Time and weather permitting, you’ll visit the world-renowned Calderico Ridge, a rocky outcrop just outside the town of Consuegra with its famous twelve windmills. The Ridge was made famous by Miguel de Cervantes’s novel Don Quixote.
And, if you get to your hotel in time and fancy it, you can spend a bit of time exploring the walled city of Toledo.
On the last riding day of the self-guided motorcycle tour to Spain, you’ll take a relaxing short ride to the ferry to board the ferry and head back to the UK.
The overnight crossing will give you one last opportunity to reflect on the events of the past eleven days, have an evening meal and breakfast and say your farewells to your fellow travellers.
