Let's go touring…

Ireland guided motorcycle tour

Ireland guided motorcycle tour, the Emerald Isle - explore a small country with a big heart!

This fantastic Ireland guided motorcycle tour aims to explore a small country with a big heart.

Very few other countries display such a blend of geographical splendour, cultural uniqueness, captivating history, warm hospitality, fantastic biking roads, and people with a great sense of humour as Ireland does.

The Ireland guided motorcycle tour starts at our first hotel in Wexford. You can choose to cross from Holyhead to Dublin or from Fishguard to Rosslare.

You would not expect to see palm trees or any other tropical flora in Ireland, but you will. As soon as you ride out of the ferry port, you’ll see the roads lined with perfectly maintained bungalows, gates with statues of lions on their posts, immaculately manicured gardens, perfectly mowed lawns, and banana plants, aloe vera cactuses, palms and oleander trees.

Over the next six riding days and two free days, we’ll ride some of the most iconic motorcycling routes and visit many famous Irish landmarks.

Our first-day ride starts with a journey through striking landscapes that have inspired many poets, painters, and filmmakers. The most famous being Braveheart. Situated just outside Dublin, the Wicklow Mountains and National Park offer some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Ireland.

Throughout the tour, we’ll take a spin along several sections of the Wild Atlantic Way. This legendary biking road is one of the longest defined coastal routes in the world. For 1600 miles, it winds its way along the northern, western, and southern coasts.

During the first free day of our Ireland guided motorcycle tour, we’ll go on a must-do boat ride to the Aran Islands and the Cliffs of Moher. The Aran Islands are famous for the woolly jumpers and the aerial view of the opening scene of the Father Ted comedy series.

Just a short deviation from the Wild Atlantic Way will take us to Loop Head. Including birdwatchers, walkers, nature lovers, and apparently the cast and crew of Star Wars and of course, us bikers, no one can resist one of Ireland’s most dramatic headlands.

Another short deviation from the Wild Atlantic Way will include a visit to Dingle Peninsula and a ride over the narrow, twisty, often windy and occasionally bumpy Conor Pass. The pass is one of the highest roads in Ireland and requires plenty of high spirits and a good sense of humour. But the spectacular 360-degree scenery makes it worth the effort.

If we have extra energy, motivation, and oomph from the Conor Pass, we can continue riding the Dingle Peninsula, also known as the Dingle loop, towards Slea Head. This part of the ride passes through historic sites and rustic villages where the ancient Irish dialect is still spoken. As an extra benefit, we’ll have close-up views of the world-renowned Blasket Islands and distant views of the Skellig Islands.

Killarney National Park, in the heart of County Kerry, often called “The Kingdom,” is a gem on Ireland’s southwest coast, known for its dramatic landscapes, unspoiled beauty and fantastic biking roads.

On the second day off, we’ll ride the Ring of Kerry. This circular ride is over a hundred miles long, taking us around the Iveragh Peninsula, which, with each twist of the throttle and each turn, brings new treats for the eyes. It includes stunning views of ice-cold lakes, peaty rivers, foaming waterfalls, grand houses, and ancient castles.

Whenever we see the road sign “not suitable for coaches”, it means it’s good for motorbikes. The Ring of Beara is an optional 90-mile-long extension to the proposed route. It is another ride that mainly follows narrow, bumpy country lanes, best done individually or in small groups. The route follows a picturesque coastal ride that circles the Beara Peninsula, taking you to some beautiful, remote places that are still part of the Wild Atlantic Way.

Continuing on the coastal roads, we’ll head towards another iconic Irish landmark, the Mizen Head. To such an overwhelming spot of natural beauty as Mizen Head, photographs never do it justice. To truly appreciate it, you have to visit in person, walk the bridge, see it, and take your own photos.

The last tourist attraction we visit on this fantastic Ireland guided motorcycle tour will be Blarney Castle and its mysterious Stone of Eloquence, found at the top of the tower. The legend says if you kiss it, you’ll never again be… (whatever that means). Perhaps it means you’ll never again be what you don’t want to be, and you’ll always be what you want to be.

Emerald Isle is the land of contrasts. The landscape is harsh but eye-pleasing. Historically, it’s both Celtic and Viking. People are direct but polite. The cuisine is simple but delicious. The weather is… well, Irish, yet no one seems to mind. And roads are often narrow, bumpy and twisty, but somehow it does not matter. So join us!
