The Swiss Alps self guided motorcycle tour is tailor-made for those who enjoy riding in the mountains.
Spectacular scenic roads and dramatic scenery make Switzerland a perfect country for bike riding.
On this tour you will ride the most famous mountain passes. Just to name a few such as Furka and Grimselpass as well as Susten.
Your base for two days is in a narrow alpine valley. It is squeezed in between the towering mountain peaks of Jungfrau, Eiger and Mönch.
Your three star hotel has en suite rooms and safe motorcycle parking, drying facilities as well as its own restaurant. Lauterbrunen is a popular tourist village. It has many shops and restaurants as well as a train station. This makes it an ideal starting point for day trips to Interlaken or Alpine train journeys.
On your days off you have the choice of riding the mountain roads to the ski resort of Grindewald as well as visit the spectacular Trummelbach waterfalls.
Those who don’t fancy riding can take a cable car to the alpine garden on the Schynige Pllate. In addition you can visit the summit of the Heimwehfluh and the Top of Europe, Jungfrau.
From Lauterbrunen you move on to your next destination St Moritz. It is perhaps better known as a ski resort as well as the winter playground for the rich and famous. However, as Summer arrives the whole region transforms into a fantastic biking destination.
But before you arrive to St Moritz you’ll have the best day of riding ahead of you. Grimsel and Furka are both high mountain pass. The roads also encompass miles of stunning mountain views. With their twisty hair pin corners as well as high elevations the passes are artfully drawn on the mountain sides. They are also almost traffic free and lead along many sparkling reservoir lakes. As it will be lunch time by the time you get to the bottom of Grimsel, Gletsch is a convenient place to stop. On your way up Furka pass allow a bit of time to walk inside the glacier.
In St Moritz you will stay in a three star family run hotel. Day rides can be into Italy to explore the Stelvio National Park. In addition visit the charming alpine village of Glorenza and ride the challenging Stelvio as well as Umbrail, Ofen, Julier and Fluela mountain passes.
During the summer the town hosts some of the most famous classic car rallies. These include the British Classic Car meeting in July as well as Passionate Engadina that celebrates Italian cars in August. There is also the Gran Turismo hill climb up Bernina pass. It takes place every September. Each of these events is definitely worth seeing.
On the return leg of your tour you’ll pass through Liechtenstein and the Black Forest in Germany.
This tour presents you with a great opportunity to ride some of the most spectacular mountain roads in Europe.
