Tour Information

Slovenia is a delightful country with a warm and friendly people, vast forests, dramatic caves and gorges, crystal clear mountain rivers and lakes together with historic castles and peaceful alpine villages.

After the Channel crossing from Folkestone and a relaxing ride across France and Belgium, you’ll spend the first night in Luxembourg.

Your four star hotel is located on the banks of a river in the centre of the historic town that is overlooked by the imposing medieval castle.

En route to Slovenia you will enjoy the hospitality of RideWithUs long standing partners biker-friendly hotels in both the Black Forest of Germany and the Austrian Tyrol.

In Slovenia your hotel at Lake Bohinj is situated in an idyllic location with views of the lake and the surrounding mountain peaks of the Julian Alps. During your stay you’ll might opt to visit the Vintgar Gorge which is one of the most popular natural features in Slovenia. The path through the gorge leads along the wooden bridges, galleries and rushing white-water river and ends with 26-metre waterfall.

While here you’ll also have the opportunity to visit the Postojna Caves. With some 13 miles of natural tunnels, narrow passages, spectacular galleries and stunning formations of stalactites and stalagmites it is considered as one of most unique natural wonders. However the most popular part of the whole visit appears to be a two mile journey on a mining train.

If you still happen to have some time to spare we recommend that you visit the nearby Predjama Castle which is about 700 year old and is dramatically perched on a 250 foot high cliff.

Another popular ride out follows the twisty roads through the Triglav National Park, including the famous Vrsic Mountain pass, via beautiful ski resorts of Bovec and Kranjska Gora.

For those with a more adventurous taste there is an opportunity not to be missed – a lunch at one of the local taverns with an extensive range of local delicacies and the on-hand assistance of the local proprietors to guide you through the extensive menu.

From Slovenia your journey continues to the Italian Dolomites where you stay for one night in a four star biker-friendly hotel. You’ll arrive here via the enjoyable switchbacks of the Mauria Pass and at the picturesque alpine lake of Misurina where we usually stop for lunch on our RideWithUs guided tours.

Leaving the magnificent Dolomites behind you’ll arrive to your next destination where you stay in another comfortable family run hotel situated in the heart of the Swiss Alps. The popular ski resort of Zernez is your home for the next two nights. Here a day off can be used to take a ride around some local mountain passes that include Stelvio, Umbrail and Ofen. As a bonus on the way to your next overnight stop you’ll also have a chance to ride the fantastic Fluela pass.

Finally, to bring this great tour to its conclusion you transit via the Black Forest, one of the most attractive biking destinations in Europe, cross yet another border, ride some great roads through rural France and arrive back to the UK.
