Where you choose the date and set the pace
Start / Finish in UK

Tour Information

This is an exciting motorcycle tour that’ll take you to the heart of the stunning Austrian Alps, the Lungau region.

If you are an independent rider who wants a bit more then just a motorcycle riding trip then this great motorbike holiday across Europe will appeal to you.

On your way there you’ll have three overnight stops – in Luxembourg, the Black Forest in Germany and Austrian Tyrol. Please note, for those with longer journeys to Folkestone alternative crossing can be arranged.

Your route to Austria will take you via some of the “must do” roads and passes on every biker’s list including the famous B500, twisty Arlberg and scenic Gerlos Pass.

Hotel Grizzly is a chalet style hotel with spacious en-suite rooms, secure parking, bike cleaning and maintenance area, luxury wellness and spa area, beauty and massage therapy, bar, restaurant with traditional food and amazing selection of wines.

The hotel is also an official BMW Road Testing Centre and for a nominal fee it is possible to hire brand new models of BMW motorcycles for the day.

Upon your arrival, you’ll receive a free road map with the most beautiful routes around the local area and as far as the Julian Alps in Slovenia. Your hosts are keen motorcyclists and are more then happy to assist you in choosing the best rides or if you wish you might decide to make the most of your time and join some of their guided day trips.

The choice of great biking roads and passes is endless including the B99, Nockalm and Maltatal Strasse, Sölk Pass, Tauern and Turrach Pass and of course the rollercoaster – the one and only Grossglockner High Alpine road.

With their countless hairpin bends the local mountain passes will take you to the dizzying heights of close to 3000m. They lead directly to the heart of the Austrian Alps providing you with wonderful views of snow caped mountain peaks, flowery meadows, dark green pine forests and ice blue mountain lakes.

However, if you are feeling really adventurous and fancy something extra special you might choose one of the most popular day trips that’ll take you to the Julian Alps in Slovenia. The ride follows the twisty roads through the Triglav National Park, including the famous Vrsic Mountain pass, via beautiful ski resorts of Bovec and Kranjska Gora. While here you’ll have an option of extending your ride to see the famous landmarks such as Lake Bled with its church on the Island and the tranquil Lake Bohinj.

For the fans of the ‘Sound of Music’, classical tunes, Mozart and Austro-Hungarian architecture a day trip to Salzburg is ‘a must’.

On a more serious note if your interests lie in history of World War II then a visit to Berchtesgaden, better known as the ‘Hitler’s Nest’ might be of interest to you.

Somewhere along your way make sure you stop at a local stube for a well deserved lunch. Germknödel (yeast dumplings), Käsnudel (cheese gnocchi), Spätzle, Schnitzel and Apple strudel are popular choices. At the same time if you choose your restaurant table strategically you’ll be able to enjoy your meal and take in the most spectacular views of the scenic Austrian Alps.

The end of each day riding and exploring can be marked relaxing in the sauna and steam room or if you prefer with a drink or two on the sun terrace or in the popular Grizzly Bar.

This tour will offer you the opportunity to enjoy magnificent Alpine scenery, ride excellent motorcycling roads, savour delicious local cuisine, stay in a comfortable four star biker friendly hotel and enjoy the warm welcome of your hosts, the family Graggaber.

On your way back to the UK during the last three days of this fantastic tour you’ll be riding some of the most fabulous mountain and country roads through Austria, Bavaria, Black Forest and France and enjoy the hospitality of our carefully selected hotels.
