This tour has a real sense of holiday. It includes great biking roads, panoramic views, genuine Tuscan hospitality, regional gastronomy and opportunity to taste some of the finest Italian wines. There is also time to visit some of the most famous historic cities and tourist attractions such as Pisa, Siena, Florence, Lucca and of course the Ducati or Ferrari factory.
This tour is planned in the usual RideWithUs manner with comfortable daily mileages, nice hotels and all breakfasts and evening meals included.
As usual we shall depart from Folkestone to our first overnight stop in a good quality three star hotel in French Ardennes.
The following morning we’ll continue our journey towards the Black Forest in Germany for well deserved traditional evening meal served by our hosts.
The following day we ride on through Black Forest and Austria into Northern Italy where we stay in a comfortable four star hotel.
The next morning we’ll continue our journey towards Tuscany and arrive to the delightful thermal spa town where we stay for the next three nights.
Located in tranquil parkland a short walk from the town centre, our elegant four star Villa style hotel will set the tone for the holiday. The hotel has a swimming pool and leisure facilities, private car park and it’s own restaurant.
Whilst here we’ll have a perfect opportunity to explore the area by taking a ride around the Chianti region or visiting some of Tuscany’s most famous tourist sites such as the birth place of Pinocchio – Lucca, the city of culture, Florence – the city of art, Pisa and it’s famous leaning tower, the romantic city of Siena, the medieval hilltop town of San Gimignano and of course the world famous Ducati or Ferrari factory.
Also, not to be forgotten an organized day trip to the traditional Tuscan farm house for a guided tour of olive groves, olive oil production presentation, olive oil tasting followed by authentic Tuscan lunch.
In this land of great food tradition we’ll have an opportunity to taste the dishes made of real Tuscan mountain ingredients such as wild boar, home made pasta, salami, wild mushrooms, chestnuts, truffles, and of course the local olive oil.
From here the journey takes us back to Lake Garda to a family run hotel with a lovely indoor swimming pool and a restaurant with plenty of character.
We continue travelling North on some great roads through Switzerland to our overnight destinations on Lake Constance. From here we cross into France and ride some traffic free roads to our next stop in Asace. The final overnight stop is in the Walloon region of Belgium. Our accommodation is a fours star hotel with a restaurant that serves local specialities.
This year we are departing from our usual afternoon Eurotunnel crossing times. Instead we are booking the crossings for early midday. Since the last nights hotel is about 100 miles from Calais this gives opportunity for most of our clients to ride home on the same day.
