Self-Guided Tour 9 - Mosel & Champagne Motorcycle Tour
Depart and return when it suits you

Leisurely motorcycle tour with plenty to see, do and taste.
Treat your self with this relaxing leisurely tour and visit two of the main European wine-growing regions - the Mosel Valley of Germany and the Champagne Region of France.
With charming scenery, fantastic biking roads, delicious cuisine, fine wine, medieval castles and chateaux, hillside vineyards, historic towns with narrow cobbled streets and villages with their timber framed houses, the Mosel Valley and Champagne are two of Europe’s most picturesque regions and main motorcycling destinations.
On the first day you head off towards your first base, a four star hotel located in the picturesque riverside town of Traben-Trarbach.
During your stay in Mosel, you may opt to visit some of the local tourist attractions such as Eltz Castle or a wine producing house. On the other hand, if you prefer to park your bike for a day or two, there is a great choice of day trips and mini cruises on the river boats that will take you as far as Boppard, Koblenz or even Switzerland.
Nearby Cochem is one of the most attractive places in the Mosel Valley and presents an excellent opportunity to visit the old part of the town, St Martin's Church, the historic Town Hall in the Marktplatz and the Burg Cochem. In the cobbled town square there are numerous bars, cafés and restaurants - a perfect place to sit down, relax and watch the world pass by.
As you complete your first part of this fantastic tour, a ride across the border will take you towards your second destination in the Champagne region where you’ll stay in a delightful three star hotel with secure parking, swimming pool and its own excellent restaurant.
On your first day here you may opt to ride around the beautiful Lac d’ Orient and through the ancient Foret d’ Orient where you might choose to stop for a spot of lunch and a scoop or two of ice cream. With lunch sorted, you can continue towards the medieval city of Troyes for a leisurely stroll around its narrow streets and perhaps a cup of coffee.
The following day may be shared between visiting an XVIII century chateau and a guided tour of one the region’s most famous champagne houses. At the chateau you’ll be shown around by the curator who has an extensive knowledge about local history and the champagne tradition.
This two-centre holiday will give you ample opportunity to explore both the German and French countryside and their picturesque villages, to ride perfect motorcycling roads, admire magnificent scenery and to enjoy the rich flavour of their fine wines and truly delicious cuisine.
