Tour 7 - Lake Achensee Tour
14th - 21st July 2012

This wonderful tour gives you opportunity to enjoy leisurely riding, picturesque mountain scenery, wonderful Alpine cuisine and visiting idyllic Tyrolean towns and villages.
The area surrounding Lake Achensee is an inspiring region to visit and certainly ride your motorcycle. Motorcyclists over the years have marvelled the Tyrolean mountain roads and passes that snake through picture-book villages, medieval towns, flower filled meadows, dark green pine forests and high pastures.
After two overnight stopovers we arrive to our destination via the scenic Alberg Pass, first of many Alpine roads included into this tour.
Here we’ll base our selves for next three nights in a comfortable four star superior hotel with great leisure and relaxation facilities, safe parking and it’s own fantastic restaurant.
The hotel is situated in the glorious lake side Alpine town on the shores of Lake Achensee providing us with convenient starting point to explore this truly magnificent region.
From here the ride out options are endless and include the Gerlos Alpine road which is panoramic mountain pass that offers rewarding ride and enchanting views over the surrounding Salzach and Zill valleys.
Another mountain pass that is included in our riding itinerary is Thurn pass which is high mountain road that connects the famous ski resorts of Kitzbühel and Mittersill.
One of the day riding excursions will take us from the shores of Lake Achensee along some of most fantastic valley roads into Germany and Bavarian Alps. The ride continues by following white water river passing the crystal clear lake of Sylvensteinsee towards Innsbruck and back to Austria.
But before we return to our hotel we’ll stop for well deserved lunch at the traditional chalet style restaurant by the lake. If you like goulash soup, dumplings, schnitzel, apple strudel, pancakes or any other Alpine delicacy this is the place to eat.
Another day trip can include a visit to the world famous Swarovski Crystal factory renowned for it’s fine cut decorative glass and glass jewellery.
The ones who prefer to park their bikes and be tourists for a day or two may opt to visit former Winter Olympic city of Innsbruck. Here you can walk along narrow cobbled streets lined with the attractive facades of numerous baroque buildings. Some of the more famous ones are the Helblinghaus - a Gothic style medieval corner house, Stadtturm - the 14th century city tower and of course the famous city’s symbol - Goldenes Dachl or the Golden Roof.
You can round your tour of historic sites by visiting the medieval hill-top town of Hall im Tyrol. With its many narrow alleys full of picturesque sites, it’s traditional facades and unique atmosphere will remind you of the ancient times.
This great motorcycle tour includes traditional welcoming hotels, delicious local cuisine, unforgettable views, unspoiled nature and scenic alpine roads & passes. A bikers paradise.
