Tour 5 - French Alps Tour
24th - 30th June 2012

This tour will take us to the very heart of the French Alps. The crystal clear mountain lakes, flower-filled meadows, pretty villages and towering snow capped peaks produce some of the most wonderful Alpine scenery. With plenty of challenging mountain passes and ever-changing panoramas... the motorcycling here is excellent.
We start this tour with an early departure from Folkestone and relaxing ride from Calais into rural France where we’ll stay in a three star hotel with secure parking, swimming pool and its own excellent restaurant.
This tour has a certain note of adventure as we base ourselves in Chamonix - the capital of extreme sports. From here we’ll have the perfect opportunity to ride some of the most challenging mountain passes of the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. such as Col de la Forclas, Col du Grand St Bernard, Col du Petit St Bernard, Col de Roseland, Col des Aravis, and Col de la Colombiere, just to mention the few.
One of the free days can be used to visit the delightful lake side town of Annecy. This is a lovely medieval town in a great location with the mountains as a backdrop often referred to as ’the Venice of the French Alps’.
Our base hotel on this tour is a quality four star with en-suite facilities, safe underground garaging, swimming pool, bar and fantastic restaurant.
In Chamonix we’ll have a chance take a stroll around and sample some of the French traditional Alpine delicacies offered by town’s many fantastic eateries.
A perfect place to have a rest day and enjoy the tranquil Alpine scenery.
From here the journey takes us back North on some great and almost traffic-free roads to our last overnight destination in the Champagne region. A final ride across rural France, still on those quiet roads, will take us to catch a late afternoon crossing back to the UK.
Riding and exploring here you will fall under the spell of this rugged, wild and incredibly beautiful mountain range.
