Tour 3 - Grand European Motorcycle Tour
18th - 27th June 2010

Join us on this exciting tour that will take us through some of the most spectacular scenery of seven different European countries including the Champagne region of France, the Black Forest of Germany, the Austrian Tyrol, Slovenian lakes, Croatian coast, Italian Dolomites and the Swiss Alps.
After the Channel crossing from Folkestone and a ride across Holland and northern Germany we’ll board the overnight Motorail to Austria.
A short morning ride across Austria will take us to our first host country - Slovenia. This is a delightful country with a warm and friendly people, vast forests, dramatic caves and gorges, crystal clear mountain rivers and lakes, historic castles and peaceful alpine villages. Our home for the night is a three star hotel by Lake Bohinj that is situated in an idyllic location with views of the lake and the surrounding mountain peaks of the Julian Alps. Like many of our hotels, it has an indoor swimming pool, restaurant and safe parking.
Following scenic country and mountain roads we leave Slovenia behind and cross into Croatia. For the next two nights we’ll stay in the costal resort of Porec in a three star hotel near the marina, with a restaurant and safe parking. On our day off we can visit the remains of the Roman amphitheatre in Pula, the old town of Rovinj, Hum (the smallest city in Europe numbering only seventeen residents) and the medieval hilltop town of Groznjani which is also an artist colony.
From Croatia we’ll once again cross Slovenia and continue our journey to the Italian Dolomites where we stay for one night in a three star biker-friendly hotel. We’ll arrive in the Italian Dolomites region via the enjoyable switchbacks of the Mauria Pass and at the picturesque alpine lake of Misurina where we usually stop for lunch.
Fantastic scenery, expensive jewellery, fast cars and fur coats - this is all synonymous with the glitzy ski resort of St Moritz and our home for the next two nights. Here a day off can be used to take a ride around some local mountain passes that include Stelvio, Umbrail and Ofen. As a bonus on our way to and from St Moritz we’ll also ride the Julier and Fluela passes.
The next morning we’ll continue our journey into the Black Forest, one of the most attractive biking destinations in Europe. Here we’ll stay near Lake Titisee in one of our biker-friendly hotels, with an excellent restaurant and well stocked wine cellar.
Finally, to bring this fantastic loop around Eastern and Western Europe to its conclusion we cross yet another border and ride some great roads through rural France.
This tour has it all - great country roads and mountain passes, carefully selected biker-friendly hotels, stunning scenery, delicious local cuisines and fine wine - a true motorcycle holiday.
