Tour 1 - Wales Tour
04th - 07th May & 24th - 27th August 2012

With three stunning National Parks and boasting some of Britain’s best biking roads, Wales is an ideal destination for a weekend getaway or first taster motorcycling trip.
The Welsh landscape with its rugged mountain peaks home to many spectacular waterfalls, wild inland hills, beautiful lakes and reservoirs, deep wooded estuaries and fantastic biking roads makes this an ideal touring destination. Steeped in history Wales has many impressive castles, ancient mines, quaint villages and preserved steam railways all set against the backdrop of its beautiful countryside which can be seen dotted with sheep, wild ponies and the odd mountain goat.
Our weekend starts on the Friday night when we meet up for a relaxed dinner with fellow riders at our hand- picked country hotel based at the ‘Gateway to the Elan Valley’. Once a Victorian workhouse, this now beautiful and unusual hotel provides comfortable rooms, great food and a biker friendly environment. Located in the heart of Wales we shall be ideally based to explore both the North and South of the country.
On day one, after a sumptuous welsh breakfast our tour begins heading south through the wild Black Mountains easternmost region of the Brecon Beacons National Park towards the mountain roads of the Rhonnda Valley and historic mining heart of Wales. Our route then crosses back over the National Park using some fantastic biking roads to take in the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons, Forest Fawr and The Black Mountain of the west. This is an area of unspoilt rolling hills, deep forests, fast flowing rivers and majestic reservoirs.
On day two we travel north through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Welsh Marches to Llangollan, ‘Gateway to North Wales’ and over the Horseshoe Pass to the famous Ponderosa Cafe. Taking the sweeping roads across the Denbigh Moors we head towards the pretty village of Betws-Y-Coed in Snowdonia National Park. Set in dense woodland the beauty of this area is enhanced by the nearby Swallow Falls, the hill top lakes, river pools and ancient bridges. From there we journey into the heart of the Snowdonia mountain range, over the Llanberis Pass towards the rugged Cambrian Mountains and the spectacular reservoir of LLyn Clywedog.
On day three and the last day of the tour we combine a shorter ride out via the Rheidol Valley to the wild Welsh coastline, returning to visit the beautiful Elan Dams before departing for our homeward journeys.
If this is your first biking holiday or you like to start your touring season with a short break before venturing into Europe this tour might just fit the bill.
