Dear All,

For all of you who have been visiting our modest news page on regular basis here is another short update for two more tours.

The Swiss Alps tour was an absolute mountain party blast and it was our pleasure to guide it.

The first day or two the weather was not that great and we did get wet quite few times. However, it did not do much to dumper our spirits one bit as we soldered on towards Annecy.
That evening we went out to the restaurant for a meal and we all thought ‘let’s have a bear’, when asked by a waiter did we want a large bear we all said ‘YES, of course, large bear’. Well, when it arrived it was the largest bear I have ever seen and drunk. Lucky for the group that I had only one and we did not have a big mileage to ride the next day.

Once in Switzerland we were blessed with fantastic weather and we rode some great mountain passes such as Grimsel and Furka. The ride to Overalp pass with a lunch stop in Glorenza, was done as a day ride from St Moritz where we stayed for two nights. At Furka we stopped for visit to the inside of a glacier which proved to be a hit for everyone.

We also spent two days in Interlaken from where we took a short ride to visit spectacular Trummelbach waterfalls and had a ride on a cable car to Schilthorn where one of the James Bond movies was filmed. And as we had a Mr. Bond with us on our tour it made this visit even more appropriate.

On our way back we had a birthday party in the Black Forest. Our young Cyril got to a grand age of 29 (he wishes). Anyway we had a nice slice of Black Forest gateau and a glass of house vine and wished him all the best with his new found love back home in Ireland.

It has been an excellent tour. Thank you all for the great company and see you all again next year.

All the best,

Slavica & Petar

PS. As we just returned from our Slovenia tour I thought I better write something before I forget it.

For one reason or another, this group was getting smaller and smaller and few weeks before our departure we were left with a grand total of three bikes (five people). Despite all the cancellations we decided to guide this and what a great five people they turned out to be.

With two weeks of glorious sunshine that followed us we rode some fantastic roads and mountain passes through the Champagne Region, Black Forest, Austrian Tyrol, Italian Dolomites, Swiss Alps and Slovenian Alps.
While in Slovenia some of us went white water rafting, we visited Vintgar gorge, rode the twisty Vrsic mountain pass with its cobbled hairpins and had a fantastic lunch in a local taverna.

While riding through the Swiss Alps we also met Grant and Susan Johnson from Horizon Unlimited. They were in process of filming a DVD about riding around the world and were very interesting people to have a chat with.

Also while returning from our day ride we found a German biker called Walter in the middle of the road with a nasty open fracture just above his ankle. He crashed his BMW against the barrier and was lying there in great agony with about 30 cars around him and not a single car driver made attempt to help him until we arrived.
It was fantastic to see how whole group clicked together and took up different tasks of giving first aid to Walter, securing the scene of the accident and stopping and regulating the traffic. Walter was taken to the near by hospital where we paid him a visit the next day. It was good to know that Walter is going to be OK and hopefully soon be back on his bike.

Once again thank you all for being great bunch of people and making this tour easy for us.

Fantastic trip.

All the best.
