Dear All, Thank you for patiently waiting for another update regarding our tours. Since our last post we have completed two more fantastic tours: the Grand Alps and the Black Forest. The Grand Alps tour started with a party – surprise birthday party for Nick, secretly organised by his wife Alison and Slavica from RideWithUs. Except for the first two days the weather was nice and sunny, especially when we got to the Alps and started riding the mountain passes. There were plenty of photo opportunities and lazy lunches in mountain restaurants. Most of us stayed together as a group except Phil and John who preferred to ride on their own and as they used the same route pack as us they became RideWithUs restaurant scouting team. On several occasions there were some problems with the alarms on FJR1300 (Stewart), Pan European (Alan) and Triumph Sprint (Rob) due to the interference from the telephone installations at the tolls. But because we were aware of this the bikes only had to be pushed away couple hundred meters and they were OK. I would like to thank Roger 1 for sharing his cigarettes with me and Roger 2 for letting me sit on his Yamaha FZ1 Fazer. As a result RideWithUs is now a proud owner of a brand new shiny red Yamaha. Also we would like to congratulate Sara who bravely soldiered-on on her Suzuki Bandit 600 through all sorts of weather. Not an easy tour for a first tour abroad but the lady has got a style! The Black Forest tour was another trip where one week felt too short and everyone wished that, at the end, there were few more days to go. This particular tour is not that demanding so everyone was able to enjoy riding the bike and admire the scenery at same time. A visit to Black Forest open air museum and Lake Titisee worked out very well despite me (Petar) head-butting the car park entrance barrier and breaking it off. But mind you I did say that I was going to sort out the parking for all of us, and I certainly did. On our way back to the UK we stayed for two
nights in the Champagne region of France where we visited
an eighteen century chateau for a bit of bubbly tasting. The whole group of people was fantastic and we would like to thank you all for putting your trust in RideWithUs to arrange your holiday. Also our special congratulations to Sara and David for joining this tour and riding so well after only six months of passing their bike tests. Fantastic tour. Thank you all and all the best, Slavica & Petar
