Which Bike
There is no particular bike that is better than another. They all do the same job. It comes down to your own choice, preference, style, comfort, performance, fuel range and economy and luggage capacity.
A good example is our own choice of bike.
We tested and owned quite a few models and brands that included Japanese, Italian and German bikes. Amongst the others we also owned a Honda Varadero for two years, which proved to be very comfortable bike but quite heavy and hard to handle during the slow manoeuvres and in windy conditions. So, we decided that we needed something with a big engine, small frame and light weight but still reliable and comfortable. At the end we chose the Yamaha FZ-1 1000 Fazer which suites our requirements perfectly.
If you are not sure which bike to use for touring, the best way to go about it is to talk to other bike owners, dealers and friends and also to test ride as many different models as possible…..and remember your pillion (whoever it is - in my case, my wife) who has a very important say in your choice of bike. If she or he is not comfortable you will hear all about it in no time!
