Because we do not like flat landscapes we have mixed feelings about this country. The Alpine regions are as good as any other country, if not better. However, the parts close to Hungary and the Czech Republic are flat and not very exciting. You need a motorway permit and the police are very strict about it. Do not avoid Austria if it happens to be on your route.
